Kelly Tousi, a consultant at ZS Associates, was named one of this year’s top 12 female consultants by Consulting magazine. She has helped companies in the medical device, diagnostics and healthcare supply chain industries transform their organizations and enhance their sales and marketing strategies and executions.
Her focus is on encouraging women to join the consulting field. Kelly has faced challenges that come with being a woman working in consultanting and believes a common struggle that women face is how to successfully balance a home life with a successful career. Like the women of WiHL, she is more than ready to face that challenge head on.
“[This award] represents a responsibility – to inspire and support women interested in consulting to join our ranks, and to help women in the profession thrive and grow into our future leaders…. Since our profession is built around client service, this can mean travel away from home and longer, less predictable hours. Whether it is getting up very early for work – before my family is up – or leaving the office for soccer matches in the late afternoon and then finishing up later at night, I find ways to blend my two passions together.”
This woman is an inspiration to us all that not only is it possible to balance a work life and home life, but to come out ahead in both aspects. You really can have it all, if you put in the work to get there.
Her advice to young women pushing for the same things?
“[Don't] let the challenging pace of consulting intimidate you. Instead, embrace it. Embrace all that you can learn and all that you can contribute….Shape your role and experience as you need to in order to integrate it with your life.”
